Parting With the Flowers

Scents of the Flower linger over freshly cut grass

torn from the earth like a crying newborn from its mother

a field once overflowing with fragile white petals

a loss of innocence heavy in the air

a sweet dream, crushed by a nightmare

all that once felt sure, now blown away

then the rain arrives

a Flower blossoms from her wounds

delicate, untouched by life

once ripped from the safety of her field

never broken, only lost

because the rain arrived

and what’s there is never gone

but only waiting for the seed

for you are you

a magnificent flower amongst grey skies

The Boy With the Honeycomb Eyes

and it was the details of you

that drove me deep into love.

those eyes,

those honeycomb eyes hold everything my heart craves.

your warm arms and the softness of your touch

feel like home,

and everywhere i have never been.

your outbursts of laughter fill me with delight

making me feel alive,

and far less lost.

some nights i sit on my porch

looking at the stars we looked at

when you first fell into my arms.

i see those same stars in your eyes

every time they meet mine.

you look at me,

as though there's something in me worth seeing.

i've never felt so safe in someone's gaze

i've never wanted someone to look at me

but i love what you can see

i don't believe two souls meet by accident

when i met yours,

it felt familiar.

it was you.

some part of me knew,

it was going to be you

and the most beautiful part about it is

i wasn’t even looking when i found you
